American Fan Co. / Woods USA emphasized it’s commitment to being on the cutting edge of world class quality standards by being the first industrial fan company in North America to obtain ISO certification (Achieved in December 1995). As a manner of note, Woods of Colchester obtained ISO certification in 1984, making it one of the first (3) fan companies in the world to be ISO certified.

What is ISO?

The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) publishes a set of general standards and guidelines about quality management and quality assurance. This provides a general framework in which a company can specify procedures to document how is performs its functions or operations.

What is ISO 9001?

The 9001 series is the "complete package" and the most difficult level to achieve. This involves every phase of an order from the time we receive the order in sales, until the product ships out the back door.

Why ISO 9001?

We did this to:

  • Reinforce our continuous improvement/total quality process
  • To reduce the number and scope of customer QC audits
  • To use the registration as a marketing tool
  • To gain access to markets that require ISO registration
  • Reduced warranty and liability claims
